Laborer

Tekton Construction specializes in providing laborer services as a union company. As a Laborer, you will perform tasks involving physical labor at construction projects including operating a variety of hand and power tools, cleaning and preparing job sites, performing demolition work, cleaning up rubble and debris and removing waste materials. You may also assist other craft workers.

 Requirements and Responsibilities:

• Interior demolition of job sites in preparation for construction.
• Material handling and storage.
• Maintain clean job sites by picking up tools and equipment and securing the job site each day to eliminate potential hazards.
• Ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are Bring problems to the attention of the Foreman, Safety Director, or Field Manager.
• Ability to lift heavy objects and perform duties as identified and tested with Worksteps pre-hire program.
• Additional general construction duties as needed.

Qualifications / Skills: 

• Knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions.
• Ability to work independently and complete activities according to the work schedule.
• Ability to communicate orally and in writing.

 Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

• High school diploma is an asset.
• Any combination of education and experience demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform the work.
• Training and certifications.
• Previous experience performing manual labor in the commercial or residential construction industry.
• Current union member or would like to join a union.

This position reports to the Laborer Foreman, General Laborer Foreman or Field Manager.
