Carpenter

Tekton Construction specializes in rough and finish carpentry as a union company. Whether the job is inside or out, our team of skilled craftsmen bring experience, expertise and professionalism to every job site. We take the time to understand our client’s needs, timeline, and budget.

Requirements and Responsibilities:

• Erects scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground levels.
• Studies specifications in blueprints, sketches, or building plans to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials required.
• Shapes or cuts materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, or power saws.
• Follows established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean environment.
• Moves necessary materials around jobsite as assigned.
• Cleans up worksite debris.

Rough Carpentry Installs include but are not limited to:
Roof blocking, window blocking, interior backing, temp enclosing, safety guard rails, installing HM door frames in precast/metal studs, and selective demo. Minimal metal stud/drywall work.

Finish Carpentry Installs include but are not limited to:
Commercial doors (hollow metal/wood), door hardware, bathroom accessories, bathroom partitions, casework, countertops, wood trim, wood paneling and FRP.

Qualifications / Skills:

• Capable of receiving and following instructions and communicating with co-workers.
• Able to read and adhere to labels, safety warnings, and guidelines.
• Attentive to detail and always alert to ensure safety.
• Deadline driven and organized with an aptitude for detail.
• Self-motivated doer.
• Ability to lift, rotate, push, and pull 50 pounds.

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

• High school diploma is an asset.
• Current union member or would like to join a union.
• Ability to comprehend schematic diagrams, blueprints, sketches, building plans and other specifications.
• Strong working knowledge of job site safety as well as ability to complete a company specific safety orientation.

Position reports to the Carpentry Foreman or General Foreman.
